- Your visit will take about 2 - 3 hours. We strive to take the best possible care of all of our patients. If at any time you have questions or concerns, please speak to any of our staff.
- You will be asked to provide your medical history and complete consent forms for the procedure. It is very important that you read and understand these papers.
- Once your chart is complete, you will make payment and provide a urine sample for a pregnancy test.
- In the lab, we will review your medical history. It is important that your history is as complete and accurate as possible so we can provide you with the best medical care. Your vital signs will be checked and your blood will be tested for anemia and blood type.
- You will meet with a counselor who will discuss the procedure and care afterwards, as well as birth control options. If you have any questions or concerns, this will be the time to address them.
- Our counseling staff is very knowledgeable about birth control and should be able to find an appropriate and reliable method for you. The counselor will also record the last time you ate or drank. You will then be escorted to a changing room to prepare for the procedure.
- You will then be escorted to the exam room. Your doctor will perform an ultrasound to determine how many weeks pregnant you are. The nurses will help you get into position for the procedure.
- After the procedure, you will be taken to the recovery room. Your vital signs are monitored and you'll receive food and drink. You will also be given post-operative medications and any additional prescriptions needed. You can plan to be in the recovery room for about one hour.
